Stand Up for the Stand Down Oakland 2024
In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, the Alameda County Veterans Commission wishes to express sincere thanks to Supervisor David Haubert of Alameda County District 1, Lt. Colonel Marisol Chalas, Camp Parks Garrison Commander, Cesley Frost, Chief of Staff for Alameda County District 3, and Courtney Ellington, San Francisco County Veterans Commissioner. These esteemed individuals attended our recent event, despite the challenging weather conditions, and showed their unwavering support for our cause.
Our Stand Up/Stand Down event continued despite the inclement weather. The rain failed to dampen the spirits of all those involved. Among the attendees was Ronnie Forbes, a veteran who has triumphed over homelessness and despair. His journey from despair to hope serves as a beacon of inspiration to us all and provides momentum to the One Nation Dreammakers mission!
For us, this event was not just a momentary gathering but a testament to the enduring spirit of camaraderie and service. As we move forward, we are fueled by the belief that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the potential to transform lives. In the words of Ronnie Forbes, "Now that God is restoring mine and my family's lives, it is my purpose to pay it forward every day, no matter what!"
Teamwork truly makes God's dream work!
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and for your support!
